Get Your Clients Something They’ll Actually Eat

Sending your clients gifts is a great way to strengthen those valuable professional relationships. But gift-giving is an art form. Just ask any man who’s made the mistake of giving his spouse dishtowels for Valentine’s Day.

Likewise, don’t make the mistake of only sending gifts during the holiday season. There’s no better way to show appreciation than by sending a gift at an unexpected time. The extra attention and consideration can go a long way in building long-lasting professional relationships.

So, what do you send a client when you want to make a good impression and keep your brand at the top of their mind?

Pens embossed with your company name are bound for the junk drawer. Notepads adorned with your logo are headed for certain demise. And personalized calendars aren’t likely to make it out of the plastic wrap before they become outdated.

Instead of office paraphernalia, send your clients something they will actually use and appreciate—food.

Whoa! Don’t get carried away and commit the faux pas of sending a box of chocolate-dipped, sugar-coated confectionery to a client with a diabetic employee. And don’t send a box of donuts to a client with gluten intolerant associates. Instead, send something anyone can indulge in—nutritious snacks.

We all know the benefits of adopting a healthy lifestyle. Recent research on the impact of promoting a healthier workplace is telling: healthy employees reduce healthcare costs, are more productive and tend to espouse a happier demeanor while at work.
